Student Teaching Internship
Project Overview
During my student teaching internship at Central Dauphin High School, I supported the TV Production program while also taking on real-world design projects for the school community. This hybrid role allowed me to combine my background in digital media and graphic design with hands-on production assistance, creating visual materials that were used across athletics, communications, and daily school operations.
Role & Responsibilities
TV Production Support
Assisted students with camera operation, audio setup, and studio workflows
Guided editing processes in Adobe Premiere Pro and demonstrated best practices
Helped students plan segments, script announcements, and understand broadcast fundamentals
Maintained a supportive, collaborative environment during live and recorded productions
Design Work for the School
Designed promotional posters for the Golf Team and Boys Basketball
Developed a new logo concept for CD Athletes to support school spirit and brand consistency
Created a clean, student-friendly lunch menu design for daily use
Produced visual assets that aligned with the school’s brand identity and communication needs
Challenges & Solutions
Challenge: Students had different levels of comfort with studio equipment and editing software.
Solution: Provided step-by-step guidance, simple workflows, and demonstrations tailored to their pace.
Challenge: Athletic and school graphics needed strong branding while also appealing to students.
Solution: Used bold typography, clean layouts, and school colors to create modern, engaging designs.
Challenge: Balancing TV studio responsibilities with multiple design tasks.
Solution: Organized deadlines, communicated closely with staff, and prioritized project workflows efficiently.

Reflection
This internship allowed me to combine my passion for design with hands-on media production. Supporting students while simultaneously delivering real design work for the school strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, think visually, and design with purpose. The experience enhanced my creative versatility and reinforced my commitment to producing clean, thoughtful design solutions.
